I received a phone call at the beginning of March asking me if I would be willing to choreograph the Promenade for Prom. Prom in Eureka is a little different than most places. In Eureka the whole town comes and the Jr.'s Perform a ballroom dance for everyone. I was a little surprised considering I am not a ballroom dancer. I love ballroom and I wish I was a dance, but I have never really danced ballroom aside from the three proms I danced in back in high school. Ryan, however, did ballroom so together we choreographed the Junior's dance. I really, really love dancing with Ryan. It was stressful but a lot of fun in the end.
The kids chose "I Was Here," by Beyonce, as their song for the dance. We had 4 girls and 12 boys dance the night of prom, though we didn't have a single practice with everyone there. A bit frustrating but considering the lack of practice as an entire group they did great. I commented to Kodey Hughes (Superintendent and friend) that it wouldn't be so bad if it was horrible because then they wouldn't ask me again. After the kids danced he told me that I didn't have a chance of not being asked again.
Aiden, Erik, Analeigh, and Emmitt loved prom. They liked that they could run around and dance and be loud and not be told to be quite. Aiden did put a hole in his pants from sliding across the floor on his knees:(

Having choreographed for the Juniors before, I can totally agree that it is stressful, nerve-racking, and of course relieving when it's all over with! Love you, and I am sure it turned out great!
