Cub Scout Pinewood Derby

On January 28th we had our Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. It was Aiden's first derby and he had a blast. He designed his car himself and Ryan, Aiden, and I built it together. Aiden did really quite well in the race he took 4th. Though on his last run one of his tires fell off. We managed to put it back so he could have fun racing it over and over again with others at the end. Surprisingly enough after reattaching his wheel. It was the fastest car at the derby though the official races where over so it didn't count.

Tori helped me with the awards and refreshments. We did candy cars to give to each of the boys along with 1st, 2nd, 3rd place trophies out of matchbox cars, paint, and a block of wood. For refreshments we renamed treats like "Oreo's" became tires, and "Bugels" where construction cones. The kids thought it was awesome. 

Though  enjoy scouts I feel as though I make myself look like an idiot every month. This particular night I managed to flip two of the boys cars off the track completely. It was the very first race and when I pulled down the lever to release the cars I let go of it way to fast and it came up and hit the back end of their cars and sent them flying through the air. It was so embarrassing and I felt horrible. Luckily the winning car was one of these so at least I didn't break the cars.
