Rocks in your ears!!!

Aiden had his 6 year well child visit on the 7th of July which is usually pretty uneventful. Not this time! The Dr. found something in his ear that he couldn't remove. At first he thought it was earwax buildup but after several attempts, and several different tools, to remove it he said he thought it was something else. "It is gritty and hard. Not like earwax." Aiden's replied, "Maybe it's a rock." Why would a rock be in his ear? Unless he was the one who put it there. Alas, Dr. Carampatan said we needed to go to the Ear Nose and Throat Dr.
I called and made an appointment for the next day. After sitting in the waiting room for an hour and a half we were finally summoned. Again the Dr. thought it might just be earwax but that he would need to put Aiden in a Papoose (strapped to a bed) to hold him down while he got it out. Aiden was in a papoose once before when he was 3 and he had a lot of earwax buildup that needed to be removed by Dr. Teruel. Aiden screamed! He was scared to death. Then the Dr. removed a rock from his left ear. It was huge! I didn't think his ear canal was big enough to fit a rock that size in it. The Dr. nicked the side of his ear canal when pulling it out it was so big. To our astonishment the Dr. pulled out another rock from the same ear.
The story doesn't end there. Dr. Teruel decided to clean the other ear while we were there and found there was something in this ear as well that was soft and hard to grip. The Dr. was finally able to grip it and pull it out. It was a piece of popcorn! Two rocks and popcorn all in my 6 year old ears and we had no idea. You couldn't see them at all without the Dr.'s tools. Aiden never once complained or said anything about putting things in his ears. I am surprised he could hear anything at all.
When asked why he put stuff in his ears Aiden responded, "When I was five I didn't know not to put stuff in my ears." Make sure to tell your children not to put stuff in their ears or they will need to go see a special doctor, be strapped down to a table so they can't move a muscle, and have it pulled out, and it hurts A LOT!!! At least scary enough to hurt a lot.

Rocks in Aiden's ears? Wow, this was crazy. Do you have pictures of the boulders clogging up his ear canal? Did they dam the canal enough to go fishing? Any lunkers in there?

Glad to hear Aiden is OK. Now better rocks than... A friend of ours in Venezuela took a nap and when he woke up, he could feel something in his ear. A small cockroach had made its way into his ear. It took a doctor to remove it as well. Werner Hoeger
